I know that when it comes to getting the images from your photography session almost everyone wants to purchase digitals over prints. I know a lot of times and I can say from personal experience that digitals tend to just sit on the USB or wherever you put them when you purchased digitals. They are doing absolutely no good there either. If you paid for a session and then paid for your images you should want to show them off! In my opinion it’s also more fun to look through an album of pictures. There are SO many options in creating an album to make it 100% personal and unique. Yes, albums can be costly but it’s not everyday that you get either family pictures or senior pictures. It definitely is not everyday that you get wedding pictures and get to create your own album. I understand that when you see the prices of the box stores photo lab or an online company, you think you are getting a great deal. But that is not always the case.
When you purchase the digitals and then go and print them at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, an online printing company, etc. it is hard telling what your picture is going to turn out looking like. I have search the internet for examples of comparisons of images printed at different stores. I will elaborate a bit on some of the comparisons.
Snapfish
There is a brown tint to the image. The colors look muted. There is quite a bit of loss of detail.
Walgreens
The colors are dull and dark. There is a major loss of detail.
Wal-Mart
Again, the colors are dull and dark. There is also a brown tint. There is some loss of detail.
Some of these you may not see much of a difference. But there are some that you can NOT miss the difference. Just be sure to do your research before printing your images just anywhere, or better yet, purchase them from your photographer because you know what you are getting from them.
